Southport: The Chic Holidays Resort for Elderly Brittish People
Southport is located about one hour (by train) away from Manchester: Leaving behind me very green and tidy neighbourhoods with houses and equally happy little gardens, I arrived at a beach-y (!) place with huge beaches and many elderly people, others standing there alone to gaze the ocean passing under the bridges, others seated in special cars going around happily and watching the few young men who crossed the street wearing colourful scarves. Pulling my suitcases behind me, I wondered what exactly is a "human city". Southport gave me the answer: "It is the city that eliminates the"social cost"and where people coexist with a smile showing understanding and tolerance for each other. Suitcases were heavy but draging them was not tiring because the sidewalks were huge.
